Who Needs a Saudi Employment Visa from UAE?

If you are either a resident or citizen of the UAE, you can apply for the Saudi employment visa if you meet the following criterias:

  • You have received a job offer from a company or organization in Saudi Arabia.
  • You are being transferred from your company’s branch in another country to its office in Saudi Arabia.
  • You are either a citizen or resident of the UAE, and your employer is based in Saudi Arabia.

Saudi Employment Visa requirements

For UAE Citizens

Valid UAE Passport (minimum 6 months validity): Your UAE passport must be valid for at least six months beyond your intended travel date to Saudi Arabia.

Recent Passport-Sized Photographs (white background): Provide recent color photographs with a plain white background.

Signed Employment Contract from the Saudi Employer: A duly signed employment contract or job offer letter issued by your Saudi employer is required.

Educational or Professional Certificates (attested if required): Submit copies of your academic or professional qualifications that match your job role.

  • These may need to be attested by the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Saudi Embassy in Abu Dhabi or the Saudi Consulate in Dubai.
  • Certain professions (e.g., engineers, doctors, accountants) may require Saudi Council verification before approval.

Medical Fitness Report from an Approved Clinic: Undergo a full medical examination at a Saudi Embassy–approved medical center in the UAE.

Police Clearance Certificate (PCC): Obtain a Police Clearance Certificate issued by the UAE Ministry of Interior or relevant local authority.

Visa Authorization Number (from Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs – MOFA): Your Saudi employer must secure a Visa Authorization Number through the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA).

For UAE Residents

For UAE residents who are not citizens of the nation they need to submit additional documents such as

UAE Residence Visa: A copy of the UAE Residency Visa should be attached which must be valid for three to six months from the date of travel to Saudi Arabia.

Emirates ID Copy: A valid copy of the Emirates ID must be attached stating that the employee is an active resident of the nation.

Home-Country Passport & Document Attestations: The candidate’s passport and other documents must be attested by:

  • The home country’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs,
  • UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs,
  • Saudi Embassy or Saudi Cultural Attaché in the UAE.

What does a Saudi Employment Visa cost and Validity

Depending on the nature of work, employees can opt between two types of visas.

Standard Employment Visa:
The Standard Employment Visa is one of the most common visas for long term employment in Saudi Arabia.

  • The Visa is valid for 1 year.
  • It can be renewed by the employer after its expiry, granted that there is an agreement with the employee.
  • The residency permit i.e. Iqama has to be renewed annually by the employer.

Temporary Work Visa
The Temporary Work Visa is given to workers who contract is short term.

  • It is initially given for 90 days, with the possibility of a one-time extension for an additional 90 days, totaling a maximum of 180 days.
  • This visa is suitable for short term assignments.
  • This Visa also does not require the employee to have a residency permit
  • This visa can only be sponsored by Saudi-registered companies.
